Frosty woods

For The Rankin Bass Hexmas Crawl hosted by Prismatic Wasteland.

Full hyperlinked map by Kati of The Play Reports

Rolling hills, lightly wooded, blanketed in soft snow. A small crudely made snowman, eyes of black coal, branches for arms, nothing special and no distinguishing features.

While inspecting it, one might notice a larger stranger snowman with a black silk top hat atop a distant hill. A gust of wind blows snow and when it clears the distant snowman is gone.

If the party chooses to search the hex thoroughly they will encounter at least one easily befriendable arctic creature (bird, hare, ermine, fox, etc), as well as increasing numbers of increasingly strange and detailed snowmen. All have eyes of black coal. The smoke of a charcoal burner can be seen in the distance, the snowmen begin to form a maze.

At the center, Frosty in his black silk hat with a broomstick in his hand, a cursed and pitiful creature, burning charcoal. He must consume a living thing once per month to renew the spell, any creature will do. He has been trying to create another like himself, snowmen embedded with whatever he can find, with black eyes and increasingly naturalistic sculpting, but he has failed.

If you provide him with the living creature that he needs, he will serve the party as a loyal retainer.

If the party tries to fight him, injuries will reveal that beneath his snowy exterior he contains the remains of several birds, some rabbits, a couple foxes, and a single reindeer.

Stats as an ogre, but if vanquished he will be back again one day.
